Hiking and nature trails
Benissa Ecological Route
A spectacular coastal route, full of hidden coves, cliffs, and spots where the sea and nature blend. It’s easy and perfect for family fun.

Route through the Montgó
The Montgó Natural Park is one of Denia’s greatest symbols. At over 750 meters high, this limestone massif rises imposingly between Denia and Jávea, offering hiking trails for all levels.
The most popular hike leads to the top of Montgó, from where, on clear days, you can see the island of Ibiza on the horizon. The route is somewhat physically demanding, but every step is worth it for the views you discover as you climb. Along the way, you’ll also discover its enormous natural wealth: Mediterranean aromatic plants like rosemary and thyme, birds of prey, and historic sites like the Cova del Camell and the Cova de l’Aigua, which were used by the Romans to collect water.

Walk through Les Rotes
A peaceful and beautiful walk along the sea, ideal for watching the sunset and enjoying the Mediterranean breeze. The
The route is simple and pleasant, perfect for walking, cycling, or strolling, and features rest areas and bars where you can enjoy a drink by the sea. It’s especially beautiful at sunset, when the sun sets behind the Montgó and paints the horizon orange.
Plus, from here you can access trails that lead to the Cabo de San Antonio Marine Reserve or even continue on to Cova Tallada. It’s an ideal option if you’re looking for nature, sea, and tranquility all in one place.

Route to Forat de Bernia
The Bernia Mountains are one of the great treasures of the Marina Alta region, and its most famous route is the one that leads to the Forat de Bernia, a natural tunnel that runs through the mountain. The hike, lasting approximately 3-4 hours, combines nature and history, as you’ll also pass by the Fuerte de Bernia, a 16th-century fortress.
The magic begins when you go through the tunnel: a natural balcony suddenly opens up before you, offering breathtaking views of the entire Costa Blanca (Calpe, the Peñón de Ifach, Altea, Benidorm, and even Ibiza on clear days). Without a doubt, one of the most spectacular hikes in the area.

Jardín de L’Albarda
Just a few minutes’ drive from Denia, in the municipality of Pedreguer, lies the Jardín de L’Albarda, a place that surprises all who visit. This 5-hectare Mediterranean garden is home to more than 700 species of native plants, as well as rose gardens, palm trees, fountains, and pergolas that make it a true oasis of tranquility.
Its origins date back to the 1990s, when it was created with the aim of preserving and promoting Mediterranean flora and sustainable gardening. Today, this garden is a living example of how one can enjoy a natural environment managed with respect for the environment.
It’s a perfect place to stroll, unwind, take photos, or simply enjoy the silence. Activities, guided tours, and environmental education workshops are organized throughout the year, making it an ideal place to visit with the family.

L’Albarda Garden
Cova Tallada
Cova Tallada is a unique site, carved into the rock next to the sea. It was once used as a quarry for rough stone to build historic buildings. Today, it’s a magical spot where nature and history meet.
You can get there by hiking from Les Rotes (a trail with rocky areas) or by kayak. Once inside, the contrast of light entering the cave and reflecting off the crystal-clear waters is unforgettable. It’s also perfect for snorkeling and discovering the richness of the Cabo de San Antonio Marine Reserve.
In summer, access is restricted, and advance reservations are recommended to protect this natural area.

Whenever someone comes into our shop and asks us what to do in Denia and the surrounding area, apart from routes, we tell them the same thing: don’t leave without getting lost in the most charming towns and corners of the Costa Blanca.
Denia: much more than beaches
Denia isn’t just about sea and sand; there’s plenty to do in Denia besides the beach. The city has historic and charming corners worth exploring.
Denia Castle, right in the city center, stands on a hill and offers spectacular views of the Mediterranean, the port, and the entire city. It was built in the 11th century during the Islamic period and later expanded by the Crown of Aragon. Inside, it houses the
Nearby is the Baix la Mar fishing district, with its colorful houses, narrow streets, and authentic seaside atmosphere that captivates everyone. The perfect plan here is to sit on a terrace and enjoy the local cuisine.

Altea at sunset
Altea is known as the “dome of the Mediterranean” thanks to its blue-domed church. Its white, cobblestone, flower-filled streets are picture-postcard. Sunset from the main viewing point, with the sea tinged with purple, is one of those magical moments you won’t forget. It’s also a place brimming with art: galleries, crafts, and music on every corner.
Moraira
Small and charming, Moraira retains its seafaring essence. Its fishing port, quiet beaches, and seaside restaurants make it a perfect destination for those seeking relaxation. El Portet is one of its most beautiful beaches, ideal for enjoying crystal-clear waters in a protected environment.
Calpe and the Rock of Ifach
Calpe is famous for the Peñón de Ifach, a huge rock mass that juts into the sea. Climbing it (or circling it on the trail) is a truly breathtaking experience, offering breathtaking views. Calpe also has other attractions: its urban salt flats with flamingos, its old town filled with colorful murals, and, of course, its beaches.

Unique experiences in Denia
During certain months of the year, you can volunteer to guard sea turtle nests, a wonderful experience that connects you with nature and sustainability.
There are also organized trips to watch wild whales and dolphins. Experiencing the thrill of seeing these animals in their natural habitat, with the Mediterranean as a backdrop, is something you won’t forget.
